Trauma-Informed, Faith-Rooted Therapy
Guiding individuals and families toward holistic healing that honours culture, story & your inner essence.
With over eight years of experience, Cristal Hines is a respected therapist and multi-disciplinary social worker who brings a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to healing. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and a Master of Social Work from York University, with clinical expertise rooted in both academic rigor and lived experience.
Cristal has worked across the mental health, education, criminal justice, and community development sectors, supporting individuals and families navigating complex life systems and emotional challenges. Her therapeutic practice is grounded in a deep curiosity about how people come to know themselves—and how the stories they carry are shaped by family, community, and the broader social and political forces around them.
She believes that personal healing cannot be separated from historical and systemic context. Whether working with youth, women, or racialized communities, Cristal helps clients explore the intersections of identity, trauma, and resilience—guiding them toward clarity, self-compassion, and transformation.
Grounded in her faith, Cristal creates holisitic healing spaces that honour mind, body, and spirit. Her work bridges narrative exploration with evidence-based practice, offering clients a space to reclaim their voice, reimagine their story, and pursue wholeness with dignity and care.
What Sets Cristal Apart
-
Culturally Informed & Intersectional – Therapy situates personal struggles within family legacies, social systems, and the ongoing realities of racism, colonisation, and oppression. (cristalhines.ca ↗︎)
-
Clinically Rigorous & Evidence-Based – Modalities include narrative therapy, racial-trauma therapy, solution-focused practice, and family-systems work. (cristalhines.ca ↗︎)
-
Faith-Integrated – For clients who desire it, Cristal weaves Christian spiritual disciplines—prayer, lament, lectio divina, breath prayers, forgiveness practice, and scriptural reflection—into clinical care, aligning mind, body, and spirit with God’s healing intent.
Where Faith Meets Healing.
Cristal’s therapeutic work is grounded in the belief that healing is both clinical and sacred. As a therapist, she creates space where psychological insight and spiritual truth come together— honouring the complexity of trauma while inviting sacred disciplines.
Her approach is deeply informed by the work of Dr. Anita Phillips, whose teachings affirm that emotional health is spiritual work. Like Dr. Phillips, Cristal believes that therapy is not separate from faith—it is a holy space where heart, mind, and spirit are held together with intentional care.
Definition of Culturally & Faith-Responsive Therapy
At its core, culturally responsive therapy is intersectional and honors the fullness of each client’s humanity. It recognizes that healing must be rooted in the cultural traditions, values, and lived experiences that shape how individuals understand themselves and the world around them.
This approach also acknowledges how forces such as slavery and colonial structures contribute to experiences of racial trauma that impact marginalized communities.
Culturally informed therapy sees people within their broader sociopolitical and generational context, offering pathways to healing that are not only individualized but also collective, holistic, and justice-oriented.

Therapy you can trust.
Cristal collaborates with clients (and, when appropriate, their support networks) to co-design treatment plans that dig beneath symptoms, surface hidden strengths, and chart sustainable pathways to transformation—in this life and for generations to come.
